Medical First Responder
Medical First Responder program is designed for the person who is often first at the scene. Many police officers, firefighters, and industrial health personnel are often certified EMS First Responders. The emphasis is on activating the EMS system and providing immediate care for life-threatening injuries, controlling the scene, preparing for the arrival of the ambulance, and patient privacy (HIPAA).
The MFR program will teach students a patient assessment-based approach to individual and team First Responder-level pre-hospital care. This level of pre-hospital care is frequently found in volunteer or “part-paid” fire departments as well as industrial medical response teams.
Successful completion of this program will qualify students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examination for Medical First Responder. This program is MDCH approved.
Prerequisite – AHA BLS for HCP or current AHA BLS-HCP card.
