Emergency Medical Technician – Specialist
EMT-Specialist is the minimum level of licensure in Michigan to be eligible to work on an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance. This program is exceeds the US DOT’s EMT Intermediate National Standard Curriculum and is approved by the MDCH. This program consists of 110 hours of class time and 50 hours of clinical time.
Students enrolled in this program will learn advanced airway techniques such as Endotracheal Intubation (oral, nasal, digital), and Intravenous administration of fluids. Students are required to complete 50 hours of clinical experience. Students must also obtain minimum required clinical skills. Unpaid clinical hours are scheduled and coordinated by the MAESAH Managing Director, who will provide availability, locations, and hours. Successful completion of this program will certify students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination for Advanced EMT (AEMT).
Prerequisite – Successfully completed an MDHHS approved Emergency Medical Technician – Basic program, current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
